I typically am not interested in lever actions so I’ll take the x39 and bolt gun, that being said there’s probably more ammo choices for the 30-30 out there to shoot. So it would be a better choice I’d think.

end of the line. SHTF, social disorder and pandemic. everyone for themselves. conservatives find out that the US had hoarded .30-30 ammo while Russia has 7.62x39 out the wazoo. liberals are eating grass, but like wild cattle, will stampede and pose a serious threat to your well being. so now you must choose which rifle/ammo combo you will use for survival.

I used my Zastava M85 hunting last year - I dont want to go into details - but i dont think i will do that again.

My common sense tells me not to respond to nonsense polls, but I ignored that... I already pointed out the flawed logic presented here, as in; which one depends on the purpose it is destined for.
My common sense tells me to choose either a "bolt action .30-30" (788), or a No.1 .30-30 for hunting, or a semi-auto (Mini-30) 7.62X39 for plinking, but again, there are no options for those choices.
Polls are used to decipher information or predict trends, but without good questions they are less than useless.
And with that, I bid your polls "adieu..."

hoyt, the definition for best, off of dictionary.com, is:
- most advantageous, suitable, or desirable
how is that not clear enough to figure out how to answer? it implies a 'universal' solution to the multitude of variables. that's all I'm looking for with my questions. they're open ended for a reason, which I've said time and time again with all my previous posts. it's not rocket science, so I don't understand why some give me hard time for seeking to find what the trends are common from everyone when I don't have a benchmark. simply answer with your benchmark. when several people have the same answer, it's a point to take note of.
so if it was me answering such a question, I would have answered with considerations of:
ballistics and range (killing power)
adaptability (transport, hunting, stalking, defence)
reliability (bolt vs lever)
desirable (form, function, shape, size, etc)
also, I apologize for coming across so rude...I could have answered with the above rather than be critical. “If possible, as far as it depends upon you, be peaceable with all men.”—ROM. 12:18. sorry for not meeting up with my own expectation.

I just never used my model 94, sold it years ago.
Recently got a CZ527 in 7.62x39. A starter deer rifle for my wife, who is both a newbie and takes cortisone in her shoulder. We live on a gulf island, shots are short at Blacktail that typically weigh 60lbs on the meat hooks.
