Yet another 1949 SKS thread

Nice rifle!! I have a '51 with that plug in the mag bottom, she's totally original except that magplug. She makes me smile everytime I open the vault, and I have to pick her up and spend some time admiring the craftsmanship, I'll never sell her. :d

I've had a few offered to me but I can't get over the pinning method.

Not all of them suffered the "frankenpin", fortunately!

Do you guys shoot these old guns, or stash them away as collectors?I wonder if these older models shoot better than the later chrome lined versions. Is there any 1950's around? I have never seen one.

My local CTC seems to have an unusual number of 50-51 and 52 sks, even some blued ones!
Some collectors, some shooters, some stashed for the kids when they are ready!

On Vancouver Island CTC I bought a '52 blued with all matching but the mag., nicely pinned as well.I would love to find one of the old '49 or '50 's models with the 90 degree gas block, and non chromed barrel just to see it shoot. They also have small differences in the Bolt assembly, and possibly the barrel is bedded in, a little better, than the later ones .
