You need to "go all the way" and get your RPAL. Buy your first restricted firearm and then and only then will you get a cookie.

geez a good thread title really drives traffic here :) thanks for the welcomes all.
Stonehorse, that would be my optimal plan, but was counselled by a friend in law enforcement that with a criminal record i would have better luck just starting with the non restricted, can always try to upgrade in the future as well
 
A friend gave me an sks the day i received my card :) payday is 6 days out and then this fella is going to have a new 12 gauge, clay pigeons everywhere consider this your warning :p
