Been happy with my bolt guns and vintage milsurps... Even a few WWII/Korea era semi autos. They do anything I need a gun to do. But every time I go to the range, someone's got an AR. Mostly I just sniff at them because... AR... WTF do I need with one of those? But y'all are friendly, and generous, on the outside, masking your evil cores. You say things like "They're fun! Here, try it! They're accurate and don't have any recoil!"

And to be polite I'll cut off a few rounds. And yah, it's light, easy to use, accurate, and almost no recoil. And it points kinda nice too.... Light, decent balance, good ergonomics. WTF do I need with one of those?

So I hand it back and go and use a REAL rifle. You know, an Enfield, or a Mosin, or a K31... Maybe even my SVT or M305... You know. Real guns, with wood and blued steel, shooting real cartridges, not some souped up poodle shooting .22 on crack.

But you evil b@stards just won't give up. Keep encouraging me to just try it, you'll like it.

So, tax refund time of year, and I have too much money for my own good in my account. I finally decide, heck with it. Might as well get a Windham, they're not that expensive.

So I finally ordered one a couple weeks ago. Between Transfer and shipping etc., it just arrived today.

And between ordering it and arriving? Oh, I better get some spare mags. 10 pack of LAR mags? Seems reasonable. And a case of ammo. You know. To break it in. And I should probably get some BUIS for it. Hey, FDE BUIS will give it a nice accent, a bit of contrast to "all black"... Oh, and a high quality QD scope mount. Why cheap out? Now I need something to put in the scope mount... In for a penny, in for a pound... Not going to cheap out there, either. But which way to go? Vortex? Leupold? Hmmm... Still wrestling with that decision... And hey, Magpul makes some nice furniture... FDE seems to be where I'm headed here... Grips... Stock... So many to choose from... Forend? Well, I should probably start thinking about what I want to do there too. If I go with FDE grips and stock, I should probably do something about the forend... Tri-Rail? Quad-Rail? Keymod? So much to choose from...

DANGIT YOU GUYS!!! Look what you've done! I haven't even shot the dang thing yet and I'm accessorizing it like an 8 year old girl with a Barbie Doll.

I'm never going to have money again.

Don't forget , (when you get it all finely tuned,dressed all purrdy and purring like a kitten) to maybe let one of those old guys with wood and steel guns fire off a few rounds. It's the only reliable way to break the curse.
 
If you haven't already decided on an optic I suggest the Hi-Lux CMR 1-4. I think it's the best bang for the buck out there right now. Good glass, awesome reticle, illuminated, zero-stop. All for $400 at wolverine.

Wait until you try some of the Non Restricted black rifles. Tavor's and ACR's are what will make you broke, and they are even funner when you know they are of the same status as your Enfield and you can go coyote hunting or do a caliber conversion to .300BLK and take a deer. :)
