Fun query for the forum.

If you could only keep one center fire handgun, which would it be and why?

Personally, I would keep my Smith and Wesson 586-8 6" (2012 Classic Series).

It's my most successful firearm for range accuracy, and it's just gorgeous. It's wonderful to shoot and a bit like Goldie Locks, being able to shoot multiple types of off the shelf ammunition.

.38 special
.38 special +p
.357 magnum

It has a little something for everyone. Whenever I head to the range it seems to be the party favorite as well.

So, over to you guys. If you could only keep one, which one and why?

Your safe queen?
A heirloom piece?
Your competition pistol?

Thanks!

Colt scout convertible , 22 lr and mag so a couple choices of ammo but really only because it was it was my grandfathers and first hand gun I ever shot , with that being said I know it's a rim fire and if I could only have one handgun center fire it would be a glock 19 with legal threaded barrel , gen 3 stippled , with rmr sights and back up Xs big dot sights.... Of course with 3.5 trigger... And a light up front ... Sorry I couldn't be more specific :)

My newly purchased 1911. I won't mention the brand name, lest I rile-up some folks.
But with only one centerfire handgun to feed, I could afford it to be a 45ACP.

If I could only have one, I would keep my HK 45 USP Tactical. Its a large bullet, can be configured right to left, double recoil springs tame down the recoil, and has a threaded barrel for a silencer if we were ever allowed to have one :(

OK, so you're gonna make me spell it out.
Alright: N-O-R-I-N-C-O

Nothing wrong with the Norc! I have two of them and the first one is fast becoming my go to gun to shoot 45ACP since I got lots of surplus thanks to that deal. I challenge anyone else to find a better 1911 for under $170.00 <can>:D

Dunno if I did that right , anyway great to know you love the norc 1911 , makes me feel comfortable buying one in the future ! Especially if it's the only one you could keep!

My #1 choice is my 4" S&W model 29, 44 Mag. Accurate with light loads for any sort of semi formal paper punching I may be inclined to do. Also, accurate and potent enough with heavy loads to handle any other need I should have for it.

Oh no! Don't say it's a $170 gun, or else "burnaby" will have his knikkers in a knot, again.

I took mine out of the box, gave it a standard 5 minute scrub with penetrating lube and then took her to the range with 100 rounds to put through it Yukon style, that's rapid fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. I gave it no special treatment, threw it down on the bench while reloading the magazines. It never failed once, it ate everything without malfunctions. A 170.00 gun is hard to impress, but I got nothing but good to say for the Norc, its all business without the flashiness of some other higher priced pistols.

90/90 my friend ;)

That's 90 percent of the people 90 percent of the time. Someone will always have their panties in a bunch on any topic

We have people up here that frown on using a SKS to hunt big game! They frown, next time I go hunting......I will be taking my SKS! No problem with that!

Well same here with the evil Norc 1911!! I go to the range and other shooter with sigs glocks, and colts enjoy shooting mine better and usually less jams!! Their work horses!
