As we have this debate every so often and have continuous threads on the pros and cons and opinions of different bullet construction I am thinking we need a poll to answer the question democratically. No, I'm not going to declare martial law, or have the poll machine inspected or have the mods investigate vote tampering if I don't like the answers , just an honest to goodness poll that shows what the masses prefer for a bullet choice on game.

The intended game will be deer, antelope, moose , elk , etc...............at all ranges , the one bullet style that you rely on.

NO varmint , NO dangerous game, NO large bears, NO target. That is a whole different thread.

The bullet type you would use as your over all choice to get the job done.

If you want to give a brief description as to why please do so as I think it would benefit many to hear the reasons for such choice in bullets.

I would have no problem with cup & core for deer or antelope, but you specified one bullet for all, so I went with the Nosler Partition. When in doubt, use a partition.

Mono metal for me. TTSX, GMX for me. Would like to try some LRX’s also. I personally haven’t seen them fail to perform, in fact they’ve suprised me a few times. I don’t like lead in my food, but more importantly for me is I like two holes in my animals and I don’t like worrying if there’s a shoulder or heavy bone in the way. I don’t care for shooting game at long ranges, so Expansion hasn’t been as much and issue as concern over bullets coming apart at close ranges.

If I were to have a second choice I’d like to try the bonded bullets. I have no doubt they would work very well and hopefully retain their lead. For most calibers standard cup and cores are perfectly functional with appropriate weight bullets. One thing I like though is with monos I don’t bother switching weights from deer to moose etc

I’ve killed all the animals you are worried about out to 560 yards with mono metal bullets. Never lost a one. Never kinda lost a one. Never wished for a better bullet on one.

Maybe use of your bullet choice on your criteria of big game should be a pre requisite to answering the poll?

I have taken the most game with a variety of standard cup and core bullets of heavy for caliber weight. Second most with partitions, I think. A few with monometals, and lately have been using bonded core bullets. They all work if you shoot straight and don't expect miracles. I have no use for any quickly fragmenting bullet like the Barnes ( correction, should have typed Bergers) , Hornady SST, or any target bullet. If i was forced to choose / use one type only, I could live with Norma Oryx or Woodleigh Weldcore or Nosler Accubond.

For deer, antelope and black bear I'll use any cup and core that shoots well for me. Mostly speer hotcor or Sierra gameking. Elk and moose I typically use monos or a bonded choice. Federal trophy bonded tips have worked well for me.
I've never messed with partitions.

Not sure why you consider the barnes a "quick fragmenting bullet" they don't fragment at all other than losing the odd petal. Maybe you're thinking of varmint grenades?

I chose the Partition/A-Frame types. I have had the most experience/success with these.
However, my second choice is bonded: Accubond, Scirocco II, Interbond, Oryx, etc. Dave.
