.... You go to the gun shop to pick up a carry handle for you new AR-15 and walk out with a Russian SKS.
Its a arsenal refurb, laminated stock with all matching numbers.(picked it out of the crate my self) Of corese it came with all the regular goody's:D

Shot it yesterday and its really fun to shoot. Very little recoil, not what I expected. Best $250 Ive ever spent

im not an expert but you sure it wasnt force matched? i could be wrong but the original stamping should be aligned and it doesnt look that way on the receiver. again, i could be wrong. from what i heard, you'd have to be really lucky to pick out an original matching SKS from any gun store. i first thought my SKS was matched except for the mag and stock. but more i learn about sks, i found parts that shouldnt belong in a 1952 sks even tho it's got the same serial number. but i dont care. it shoots sub 10" group at 200 meters for 200 bucks. no complains at all

I have an unrefurbed, about 3000 below that one that is stamped the same way.

what does " п " mean?

It is the designation for the "battlesight" setting as per the Soviet policy/manuals of that era. If memory serves me correctly, this is the "zero" for 300meters.

Sounds right. The "n" setting looks to be the same height as "3" and I assume 3 means 300 meters. Interesting. You learn something new everyday. Thank you, Zupermann.

Go to the RED RIFLE section and READ CURTTON's Sticky at the top.

THIS SHOULD BE A PREREQUISITE BEFORE OWNING AN SKS'.

It is the best way to educate yourself on SKS'. Do not make speculation, there is more than enough info floating around here to tell you all about your SKS'.

Is this from Del's in Vernon?

It sure is :D

Rifleman1911: I will post a pic of the mag when I get home.
I am not sure what date or arsenal it is. I will see if I can find any info on that and post it.
Honestly I don't care if it was force matched, it was cheap and is fun to shoot so it really dose not bother me. I will also post some detailed photos of the numbers. Maybe someone will know??

Nice SKS!. Please for the love of god DO NOT throw a car stock, Rails, Flash lights, Or any of that ridiculous crap on this beautiful rifle

Tell me about it. I drive by lever all the time and have bought 6 more from them to add to my collection of other sks's. 3 to keep stock as they are nice and 3 to mod out. i gotta stay away really have no use for 8 sks's but cant stop lol.

whats really funny is the sks is probably cheaper than the ar-15 carry handle:confused:

i've seen some pricey ones:eek:

Its pretty close. The carry handle was $199 and the SKS was $239.
I am not planing to mad this rifle I really like the stock on it.

Well as promised here are some more picks of the mag and the numbers.
On my transfer papers it says its a SKS 1945 model and the make is Simonov.
I could not find a date stamp on it but I did not remove the stock so I'm not sure if there is one under the barrel or not.
There are some electro penciled marks on the rifle like the gas tube (if thats what you call it)
