Last December, when I moved to Southern Ontario, one of our GCN Members, SAMSPLACCI71, sent me a PM and suggested a coffee if I happened to get to Toronto. With the opportunity to go to a Military Show at the Royal Canadian Legion on Woodbine today, I took him up on his kind offer.

Since I knew that NABS was in Toronto, I sent him a PM and asked if he was going to the Show. He was, and we made arrangements to meet.

SAMSPLACCI71 showed up with PANZERSCRECK and NABS joined us a few minutes later. We had a visit that took up the better part of an hour, and gained some new acquaintances that were interested in the Milsurps portion of our shooting hobby. To put a face to a Name, and to hear and learn about another person's experiences with their Milsurps is something to remember.

I guess what I am getting at here is----if you are going to a Show, travelling somewhere and have a bit of time, or even would like to meet someone with whom you have corresponded, traded or sold or bought a firearm or item from, or would like to talk with, then----why not give them a PM and see if they are interested. You might be surprised.

And, to the three of you today, thanks for making my visit a good one.

Any time buffdog! Our firearms' community is quite small and those of us into milsurps, seems smaller. All three of us who popped by today were definitely looking forward to meeting another milsurp guy! Next step is getting you out to the range so you can us how to shoot these old service rifles to their full potential!

Darn, if I knew this was going on, I would be there in a heartbeat. Heck, id be there just to talk to Buffdog!

Please count me in on your next outing!

I'm up for Hansa house meet. It's just down the road for me and I would love to talk to someone about milsurps.

I hardly ever meet anyone shooting them in GRGC and I don't know if anyone in Brampton shoots, collect them, never mind casts for them as well.

Thing is I'm very hard of hearing so conversation can be difficult in noisy place (hearing aids do not help).

I have met few CGN'ers over time and it was always fun and interesting.

X2 Buffdog.

I met Dean, Totall at the Chilliwack show. Nice guy. Seems like a real gentleman. I wish we could have talked more but he came to my tables at a very busy time.

Totall has some very good posts here on CGN. We don't always agree but for the most part his stuff is well thought out and well written.

He comes by his pseudonym honestly. He is tall but not to-tall.

Very nice to meet you Dean and thanks for dropping by, your time was appreciated.

There are a bunch of CGNers who I would like to meet in person. Nabs, Tootall ("The Sledgehammer of Reason"), Tiriaq, Bearhunter and several others are definitely included.

There is a FB page now called "CGN Manitoba" and most of the guys on it seem to be milsurpers. There are even a few refugees from Sasakahatchawachewan on it. Other provinces might think of doing the same. It's another way for us to get together, chat about the important things in life (finding a Gras shotgun, for a recent example). Open forum, of course.

Another thing which can be done is a series of REGIONAL "Meet and Greet" shoots such as the one we held here, beginning of July. That was a LOT of fun and I think ALL of us met good people (some just starting out, others well-seasoned, a few.... such as myself....well on toward 'decrepit'). Buffdog shocked more than a few people by borrowing an old SMLE and slamming 13/15 ONTO the 12-inch 300-yard gong in 38 seconds flat: a rifle which he had never fired. We will be doing it again this year and it will be posted on the FB page AND on CGN, well in advance.

But, before that happens, I have close to 100 pounds of absolute JUNK here which needs to be made operational once more.....

It's fun.

Smellie, buffdog was talking about you guys out west. I know that he really did have some great stories to share. Nabs and buffdog were talking about Hansa House nearby. It's 10 minutes from my house so I know I will make it. I do believe that there are quite a few milsurp guys in and around the GTA that we may simply have to come up with a venue and get some notice out.
