I had a woman call me, said sher heard from a friend of a friend kind of thing that I buy old guns. She then proceeded to tell me that her husband (deceased) had four guns she wanted to sell, but would not even talk to me about it further unless I "met her price". She told me there were two lever guns and two double barrel shotguns, and she wanted 1000.00 for all four. I told her that that would be a good place to start, but they might be woth more and to let me see them. She replied "I don't care what they're worth, or about the money..I just want the guns gone and to know I got MY price."

I brought her over the $, and she pointed at an old crate. Two crappy spanish SXS's, and then there were the levers.....

Winchester 1894's in 38-55. One long barrel and one half octagon, dated from 1902 and 1920 both in really good shape!

Think I'll make my money back?:D

There must be a curse on the levers! Immediatly send them to Calgary, I will PM my address. ;) I am willing to accept the fate of the curse, but you must act soon!!!:D :D :D

Think I'll make my money back?

So she would not have accepted more money if you offered it? That seems rather hard to believe!

I'm as much into "deals" as the next guy, but Fleecing old widows ain't my gig...

Then again I've never seen humour in stealing from a child's piggy bank or tripping blind people either...I'm funny that way I guess!

If he offered as he said he did and she said what was quoted, that ends it for me! You can't always save people from themselves!

Christ man...Did you even READ the original post?!?

There was no "fleecing" of anyone. Now why dont you take a long walk...

On a side note....it might be fun to wax the stairs at the old folks home then pull the fire alarm........

There's really not much call for old Winchester rifles in obsolete calibers like .38-55.... so I'm willing to take them both off your hands for $200... :p

Nice, but I did better than that last fall. I scored an 1895 produced 1886 in 45-70, and a 1915 produced 1892 in 25-20, along with 8 other guns for $250. No I didn't rook some old lady to get them, I bought them from a guy in his 30's, and when I asked why he was selling his grandpa's guns:eek: YES HIS GRANDPA'S GUNS his reply was, I just want to buy a couple of good guns for hunting. If nobody bought them he was turning them into the RCMP for melting down:eek:  Hell if I had a restricted PAL I would have bought his SW 357 mag, I think he only wanted $200 for it, I don't know anything about handguns, but that's got to be a steal. It was one he'd bought himself, and it as in at least very good, if not excellent condition. This guy sold off Rem 700's for $150-250, to bad they were sold before I found out about them:( And no this stuff wasn't stolen, it was all registered.

Got me a 1892 mfg Win 1886 SRC in .45-70 [yeah, they only made 5,000 1886 saddle ring carbines!] and a 1894 RB .30-30 rifle from an uncle who didn't want to bother with them anymore. And a couple of target No 4 MkI's, one a 7.62 Nato conversion and a Ross 1905 target rifle in .303 Brit from a friend with the same concern. Was only too glad to rescue them from possible destruction...;) :D

Pics to be up soon....gotta take 'em for the EE anyway

Just a hint - when posting to the EE, please give the serial number range so that serious colectors know what they are looking at. My collection, for instance, is strictly pre-1899. Look forward to seeing them posted. :D
