Well I intend to get my yougo mauser scoped (a M24 47) whit a 8X56 Kalinka scope. Since this require a gun smith I was thinking guetting a afther market triger, and I might go for a stock change to have a free floating barrel.

If I start reloding, (I know american ammo in 8mm is ... cheap) how good the riffle could shoot (the riffle it self not me). :)

You drill it, or otherwise bubba that Yugo, and God kills a kitten!

Ummmmmmm.

Ok - here's the dealio - if you're in canada, buy a sporterised 8mm mauser. It will be cheaper than buying an original milsurp, and since you're going to completely sporterise it, you won't lose a sh*tload of money when you cut and alter the gun extensively.

8mm's tend to be quite accurate on the whole... a like new condition sporter will shoot better than an original but used yugo m24/47.

As for mounts, I personally don't like the look of kalinka side mounts on mausers. They tend to look like junk. Check military surplus .com if you want to see how one looks.
Also, like mosins, the side mount kalinka optics tend to sit uncomfortably high on bolt action rifles on account of their not having the large slab sided recievers like the newer semi autos that the mounts were designed for.

For a more original looking and more useable scope and mount assembly, I'd go on the EE and post a WTB for a drilled and tapped mauser or yugo m24/47 or yugo m48. Many have been mounted with the zrack military scope mounts (I think they were military at some point at least). I have a yugo m24/47 with zrack quick mount and 2.5x scope and love it. Mine is full wood and shoots very well with the original trigger and original wood. Unless it shoots badly, I wouldn't suggest messing with it, as you're bound to spend a lot of money on a gun whose value will not increase accordingly.

Anyways, that's my 2C.

I'll second that suggestion to find a Mauser that has already been assaulted by Bubba. There are lots of them around (should be for $200 or less, depending on details) and you won't be screwing up another perfectly good milsurp. Plus, most of the work will have been done for you.

As a second suggestion, try to use spellcheck a bit more often. That was really hard to read and understand just what you were saying.

Actually the riffle has mismatching floor plate, so as far has the historical value, there his none. I bought that riffle a while ago whit the intention of modifying it, logically this mean that I would prefer spend 200$ modifying it instead of buying a new one. An other reason is that my gun safe is full ;)

For the stock part, I am not sure that I want to break its mauser look. I will probably end up have a gunsmith drill and mount a scope on it, and after that I will take a look at the trigger (trigger pull is not too good on it).

Anny way thanks for answering my question
