A while back I had found my old bird hunting vest that my old man had given me well over 20 years ago. It was still in great shape but didnt know what I was going to do with it. Then a few weeks ago Huntinstuff had posted a picture of his sons hunting wall and I took notice that he really liked bird hunting. So I figured I would send young James the vest so he could use it this up coming bird season.

So here is a pic with James in his new hunting vest holding his very nice .410 shotgun

There you go James! I hope it brings you as much luck as it did for me :D

Take care bud!

Hopefully young James got a chance to see himself on the net. But I would bet James and Randy were probably out bear hunting on the weekend.

If you got a big bear this weekend guys, please dont rub it in :(. I was stuck at home this weekend doing yard work etc.

:D

We were thinking of going bear hunting but James wanted to drive his quad instead so we headed out to the field and he tore up the stubble a bit. It was kinda hot this weekend so we figured let the bears sweat it out without us. I do have some pics of him lining up a bear with his bow but I need to learn how to post pics....my profile doesnt let me.

His teacher figures he talks about hunting too much and actually sent a note home saying he needs to write stories and tell stories about other things rather than his time in the outdoors......I couldn't believe that was a concern at school. I guess he is supposed to talk about global warming or building lego or something.

I get the same message from time to time.

My boys teacher is awsome. He lets him talk away during share time on whatever he did with me on the weekend. Says its build self-confidence.

I'm a lucky dad, I'm home every night and am able to do the outdoors with him.:)

thanks Dave

That just rocks so much. I LOVED things with a story behind them like that when i was a kid. And darn if it doesn't look damn good on him too :)

Nice little iga shottie too - he can save those pics and get one of him in his 20's, and do the 'before and after' thing :)

Sounds like you have a hell of a kid there. Good luck with him when he hits his teens :) HA!

Ya, well maybe in a few years when James is ready to upgrade shotties I might have somethin nice for him real cheap. ;) ;)

Better ask dad first :D

I really enjoy seeing new hunters getting interested in hunting and shooting at such a young age. Takes me back to when I was a kid. :D

About a year ago I had a compound bow for sale, I think I wanted around $200 for it. Well a guy from Ontario contacted me and told me his foster son was very interested in shooting bows and wanted to buy mine. I talked with him for a while, and found out the kid had been saving for a very long time and had just about enough cash to buy it. The guy had said that he would have no problem buying it off me for full price, but he was trying to teach his foster son the value of money.

I got his address from him and told him I would ship the bow so that they could make sure it was what he wanted and that it fit him properly. Then when I shipped the bow I wrote the boy a small letter and told him that if it fit him, he could have it free of charge. I just asked him if when he was done using it that he could pass it on to someone else who could use it.

You should have seen the smile on that kids face when his foster dad had sent me a picture, looked just like this :D. And the last I heard from him he has been shooting almost every weekend and now wants to start hunting soon.

Ahhhhh... to be a kid again :)

The bow didnt mean all that much to me, but man that vest sure did, brings back lots of good memories.

I have one of those 12g "survival " guns with the silver barrel adn plastic hollow stock....James wanted to test it and all I had was 3" hibrass#4's so I plugged one in and he shot at a pail in the field and it tagged him on the mouth.....after he was done crying a bit, I unloaded the gun and he got to give it a kick and stomped on it once with his boot. Called it even ....

Thats a great story, I accually had a tear reading it. I'm glad there are people like you still around. I don't really know anybody who would do that including myself. Well the good thing for you is, what goes around comes around and thats good news for you.
