We had another day of not bad weather so my son and me went for a stroll and took along the 06 carbine and a box of 180 grain handloads. After a shot to get on target he was smackin' rocks in the 200 yard range at the end of a big gravel pit.
I only got about four shots out of the whole box, so when we got home he had the task of neck sizing all the empties.:D He then got to run a cleaning patch down the barrel and put a light coat of oil on the barrel exterior.:)
I figure if he is going to be havin' the fun he may as well do some of the tedious stuff too.......:p

Nice! My 5 yr old has been shooting with me since he was 2 & 1/2. He has now progressed to the 22 pistol. I constantly have the argument with my father in law (non-shooter) about kids & guns, but even at 5 now he demonstrates safety & understanding that amazes F-I-L.

The best part is...he loves to pick up brass at the range and put in the tumbler...and I love to let him, being naturally lazy.

Good work with the lad!

:) My 7 year old daughter has two 22's an old Cooey bolt with clip and a Henry Mini and shoots both. My 11 year old daughter shoots a Marlin 336Y Spikehorn 30-30 and Marlin 39A 22. My 12 year old son has a Winchester 94 Trapper and a Marlin 60 22, but now shoots a Winchester Model 70 in 270 and a Browning A-Bolt Medallion in 308. The 23 year old shoots a Marlin 1895G 45-70, Winchester Timber Carbine in 444 and a Remington 300 Ultra mag. My 26 year old shoots a custom Enfield 303 and a Winchester model 70 in 306. The family that shoots together has a heck of alot of fun together. I started them all very young and the 2 older ones taught the young ones.;)

thats awesum when i was like 10 my dad would take me shooting and i would have pretty much the same task, it was a little tougher though because i was sizing 375H&H empties

Good job Carbine303.

There sure doesn't seem to be many youth shooting these days. Its always encouraging to see more youth shooting.

I started shooting 7mm rem mag at the age of 12 as well, and now, at the age of 14 as well I am shooting 300 mag, .243, ect but mosty .22's.

Again, good for you!
