Forgive me as this post is tongue and cheek or totally sarcastic.

I was at our range (note that here it’s a bench in the woods on the power line somebody made) when a fellow pulled up to test his rifle for bear hunting tomorrow. He took one shot that was about 2” high and an inch and a half to the right at 50m (was my target) He commented “perfect, I pulled that one.. it’s still on” and walked away.

So what’s your best one shot group size to begin hunting?

SCG

Why it happened just yesterday. Best one shot group to date. American Eagle flight #38 has successfully landed.

If the guy is hunting a bait at 25 yards, he has more than acceptable accuracy... I personally wouldn't trust a single shot and would want to see confirmation of the POI before I shot at game.

Dead center in a slow fire target x ring off hand with my 1911 45. 25 yd.
can't get any better, so I said to hell with and went to Tim's, before I F*** it up. best one shot group I ever did
A Bruno #4 22 HD was a close second, but that was 100yds.

Well that’s one way of saving on ammo costs !

I doubt this is what the guy was doing but I used to go into the range in town and shoot the 4x4 inch gong at 200 yards from the bench once before heading into the mountains for an evening hunt.

My best one shot group was back in ‘82 when I was selling a Parker Hale 30-06. The guy buying it wanted to know if it shot well so we drew two lines on a cardboard box with a sharpie. Off the hood of my truck at about 90 yards I took one shot and hit the intersection of the two lines. He had a hard time trying to get the cash out of his pocket fast enough!

A number of years ago, I was at our range here with another fellow who wanted to shoot a bit.
He had no rifles, so mine were being used. At the time I have a very accurate M77 Ruger tang
safety, chambered 7x57. He was shooting it a bit, but his results were a bit dismal (4"+)

He commented that perhaps the rifle was at least part of the problem. I replied that I did not
think so.

I had a fresh target up at 100M, so I took the rifle and standing offhand, I fired one shot. When
we examined the target, that shot had perfectly split the + in the middle of the bullseye. I was
not about to try to duplicate that!! My friend was quite astonished to say the least. LOL Dave.
