Your biggest hunting regret

Missed a 10 point buck that ran 30 yards past me on a trot. I fired 3 shots and never touched him. I almost cried when I watched him hop the fence and across the road. This was 6 years ago, I havn't had a chance at a buck that size since :(

Ran out of time during a wild boar hunt 1998 near Selkirk Manitoba. The one big b@stard we were hunting was intelligent enough to lure us beside a mother bear in her den with cubs. The guide could hear her making a fuss when she winded us. In all fairness he called off the stalk because we would have ended up being charged by momma. The local guide, myself and another trusted friend. It was very hard to get permission to hunt there and you had to know the right people on band council. (reserve land) The guide did and he was good friends also with my buddy from White City.
I had to go back to Saskatchewan and I ran out of leave that summer. In August they finally organized a big sweeping controlled hunt in the cordoned off area of really thick thornbushes. Apparently they burned off alot of 12 gauge buckshot & slugs.
End of local problem and I was not there to share in the fun! :(

Mine is not having my father here to hunt with my son! My son has my dads guns, and one that was my grandfathers, my fathers, then I guess mine, but I have never shot it. It's now my sons. It's a browning belgium 3006, and he's only 9. He's held it, and wants to shoot it. I tell him it kicks a bit more than your iga .410 backpacker. lol. But he still likes holding it, and I tell him stories about his grandfathers. Makes me smile anyways!

My biggest regret is getting my grandpa's m99 303 savage and not being able to use it to shoot game. My aunt who had it for years, never told anyone, she left it un-oiled and never cleaned it. Now the gun is pitted and the stock is loose. Some people don't realize what family heirlooms are, it drives me nuts all the time. My grandpa's gun is damaged to much for repair. I now have my dads gun in my safe for my son and its going to be cleaned and protected for my boy to hunt with when he's ready. I grew up poor so now I take advantage of all opportunities that involve hunting and to take advantage of your hunting area, so that leaves me with very little regret hunting wise.
