Can anyone tell me.....in the process... now have purchased a rifle...owner in Montana has sent to a ffl importer in Wash...on my part filled out the International Import Certificate.....this is where it goes for a sh±t!!! call the Canadian Firearms Center today to pre register the rifle to let every thing go smoothly at our border.....The lady at the CFC SAYS......NOWAY CANNOT DO IT....Can someone chime in.....thought you you do this... then have 30 days to verify it by a canadian verifier...Thanks

I stand to be corrected but I don't think you can do it between a US seller and a Canadian buyer without using a registered broker/dealer. I have brought an action in but it took a long time (6 months or so) but that was because this was the first one in Canada so it took the RCMP forever to have it verified. I believe it cost me around $150 to have it done.

I did my own once. I did the IIC and had Leroy's in MT do the export. After that I've had Prophet River do all my importing/exporting. It's way easier and cheaper to have Clay do it in the long run.

Add me to this list. Also did the 1st one thinking being raised in the US it would be no problem. After I think almost 8 months , the worry that I was not going to get it across, the calls etc etc it was not worth it. Clay has done everyone after for me and it is painless.
One e-mail or call telling him what I am doing, pay the man and it arrives at my door.:)

Anyone can do it. When I do it, all I am supplying is a US FFL holder who can export the gun. Has your ffl exported before? If so he knows the proper paperwork. The Canadian side is nothing...just register it. You've already indicated you sent an IIC in? If so the ffl must know what he is doing? Who are you using? Call someone else at the cfc. Explain what you are doing, they can verify for you as well.

If you are still having trouble drop me a PM and I will help you out at no charge on my end. The $$ is usually to the ffl who has to file the export paperwork with the state department, then shipping etc. Its nice having access to a whole other gun market.

WTF he's just trying to help out the guy, it's not like this is voodoo science or anything you can't do yourself, the thing is already in process anyway, nice that someone is willing to step in and give some assistance to someone without $$$$$ being the motivator.

That is what Pm's are for . We are talking two dealers here, one that provides this service to pay the bills and supports this site not two everyday Joes lending a hand. Perhaps things have changed since I was in businees. Also after doing one by myself it can become voodoo very quickly as the OP is starting to find out.To each his own which is fine for me to see it differently than you do. take care

I did it once. Took almost 9 months to sort out. And there were costs. Now I use Clay at Prophet. His prices were less than it cost me out of pocket and happened in weeks instead of months. Then he can mail it to you too.

I might have the only maple stocked 35 Whelen pump in Canada through him??

Literally in the process of obtaining another fine gun through him. If your time is worth something to you, just call Clay.

Ah ha another 7600 collector. There is a dude in Ontario with a set of 4 of the light maple stocked but I am not sure what calipers.
My next one from gunbroker and through Clay is one of the 7600 7mm08's in blue laminate.:)

If your exporter in the US can wait and you are patient, simply wait until the long gun registry is eliminated, that should be fairly soon...

Eliminating the long gun registry won't change the US export laws, which are causing most of the issues.

That will solve the issue this ppster is having with getting it 'pre registered'. As a business, we get around this, so to speak, as we bring everything in unregistered, then register as soon as its here. CFO gives us 30 days. We do them immediatley so we can ship them. As a non business PAL, they cannot come into the country unless registered.

We have staff that have a verifier number and can register online. Very quick to do normally, unless there is a need for the cfc to issue an frt number.

Hmm, weird reply from the CFC... Completely opposite to what I got! The business I bought two shotguns from in Buffalo gave me all the info for the two shotguns... I then called the CFC, told them what I was doing and was given some info like verifiers name & number AFTER telling them what the firearm was & it's specifics, barrel length, shot #'s, model etc... Went to the online registering link & registered the firearms online. Just got the reg certs by mail...

Cheers
Jay

Hi Jay does this mean I can get a friend in Michigan to purchase a rifle for me and I just have to get the info and register on our side and I can take it across the border back into Canada with no problem
