The best all around gun maker and out of the box quality...just has 2b remington.......my 1st shot 1st bullet first animal was down at 160yrds...no:50cal: scope...mdle 700 7mm rem mag...

NONE OF THE ABOVE

The best off the shelf - Mauser; you never said they had to be cheap. If you're a rich man, $10K - $12K you can get an unbeatable "off the shelf" European Mauser. If you're a nice rich man, you can get one for me too!

-Remington all the way!...I just ordered a Model 700 SPS stainless synthetic in .30-06 from S.I.R. for $569, and at that price I couldn't resist. If it doesn't work out for me there's always Savage.

Although I love a deal as well as anyone else in these forums, I am finding that it is better to go into a shop and find something that actually fits me and handles well then worry about the brand. I will buy anything that is a decent make that feels good in my hands rather than what someone else thinks is a great gun. Great it might be, fit it might not.

Off the shelf? Sako...but I'll settle for a Tikka.

Had a beautiful custom built on a Remington action once...miss that rifle dearly.
