I had a Limbsaver put on my Marlin 45-70 and am quite happy with it ,am also having one put on my .458 Lott. they are softer than the Pac. so We'll see how long they last.

I have both Limbsaver and pachmayr, they both work great on magnums. For looks, the Limbsaver grind-to-fit is the best.
 
I shoot some very heavy recoiling rifles which include a Marlin 1895GS 45-70 with absolutely top loads from 300grs to 550grs, a Rem 700 synthetic stocked 375 Rem Ultra Mag with 260gr Accubonds @ 3020fps and 300gr @ 2750fps, I also shoot an identical rifle in 300 Rem Ultra Mag with 180gr Scirroco's @ 3380fps and 200gr A-Frames @ 3250fps just to give a few examples...

I will only use Kick-Eez pads because nothing else compares to them in recoil reduction.

Here's what I have on my Tikka M695 - .338WM. It'll set you back a lot more than a Limsaver or Kikeeze though. Felt recoil from this rifle is comparable to that of my 7-08, maybe even less. I should mention that this rifle even though heavier than the new T3's kicked like a couple of ornery mules. Yet my .375 ouch & ouch is quite tolerable even with the factory Winchester pad. Powder selection plays a big part in felt recoil.
