Time to think about some loads and stockpile some components for my upcoming .270 Wby. Have accumulated some 130 gr. Ballistic Tips, some 150 gr. Partitions and a bunch 140 & 150 Triple-Shoks (hope to make some magic with these). I've got a bunch of brass to get myself started but am looking at my powder stock and everything is pretty much geared to my .30-06 and my .243 (lots of IMR 4350, IMR 4895 and Varget).
I've done some reading online and a preferred powder for this combo of TSX/.270 Wby seems to be either H4350 or H4831 but not alot of actual load data is available. Barnes says to basically take their data from the comparable "X" bullet and add 1-2 gr. onto the max. load for the TSX as a max for this bullet due to reduced pressures. They also say to seat the bullet .05" back off the lands.
Anyone have a favourite that works for them? What primers would be a good fit? I think I have some Win lg. rifle and some CCI BR rimers downstairs now - anything else will go onto my shopping list
.
Thanks,
ILBR
