While I'm waiting on my Colt Canada stripped lower to come in (and for my AR parts fund to replenish ), I'm doing research on what's available out there in our domestic market. I really want to support Canadian business as much as I can, but this is my first AR build, so I'm as green as it gets.

I'm taking my time with it and researching every related topic so I don't end up unhappy with the results. My Google-fu produces a little more than a half-dozen shops that keep coming up with every part search I run, but I know sometimes search engines don't reveal the real good stuff due to how a site or server are configured. (I won't bore you with how I managed to find brand new Pachmayr Signature grips in Canada for my Beretta 92S!)

As a total AR build noob on his first build, I just want to know: do you have a favourite AR parts shop? If yes, please do share!

Hey, any other AR advice is welcome too, but I can see this thread easily going all over the place... :p

My favorite shop is the one that has the part that I need. Recently, I've purchased parts from Brownells, CTCS, A*tech Armoury, Tier 1 Armoury, and Rampart.

There are a number of Canadians shops that I routinely purchase from but Brownells is the one place to shop and choose what "I" want. They have a wider and lager selection then any place a shooter could want. This is not a slap to our sponsors but a shopper can surf for hours looking at their catalog.

Canada Ammo, Reliable, Tiger Arms, Wanstalls, Canadian Tactical Cowboy Supplies, DS Tactical, Joint Force Tactical.

All have good selection and are super helpful.

They all sponsor the DSSMatch.com Tactical Shooting circuit too!!

Tier One Armoury in Edmonton, no shop I've dealt with has as knowledgeable of staff or is as willing to try to order anything you ask for if they don't have it. I always go there first before looking anywhere else.

How are you guys getting parts through brownells? Getting the appropriate import certs? I've usedA*####h Ctc, Questar, gun-shop.ca and ArmsEast

Tier one armory ranks number 1 by a long shot. Greg and Dale have some of the best selections of parts north of the border, and they not only stock it, but they know the product very well.
Second, red deer shooting center, the guys there have a great selection.
Third, CTCS. If these guys don't have the parts you seek in stock, I'd be confident in saying between the 3, they can definitely get it for you.

The last thing i bought from RDSC will be the last thing I buy from RDSC. Bought a DD lower parts kit and stopped in at Tier One a week later and saw the same thing for $40 less. Called and asked about their pricing and was basically told tough chit.

I've ordered from Brownells before but hate waiting for stuff to make it through customs and with our dollar sucking balls you don't really save any money.

Its not about saving money, But convenience of buying everything at once in one place. Trying to buy parts in 1 place in Canada is next to impossible. I needed 25 AR detent springs and 25 detents for a project last week. You think I could find that In Canada at a reasonable price... NOPE !! Heck some stores wanted 6$ a spring FFS.

Shipping took only 7 days and they will be here tommorow. They use UPS to drop ship to the border now and after that is Canada Post to your house.

Brownells is a 1 stop shop and they have everything in stock.

i just ordered parts from three different cgn sponsers....

freedom ventures, purchase total $15 +$15 shipping
firearms outlet canada, purchase total $15 + $15 shipping
canada ammo, purcahse total $30 + $25 shipping

if i would have ordered from brownells they only charge $10 shipping using usps..... canada post is screwing us, but the dealers are too..... yes i realize most dealers lose money on shipping but the fact they will not send anything letter mail is killing (they want tracking# so use express post/parcel mail)

one of the above orders is for 1911 thin grip bushings and screws..... tiny little envelope, could have been mailed in the smallest padded envelope.... cost $2.50 in postage..... this last little buying spree has really turned me off canadian dealers, from now on brownells first.

What did you expect? Not every retailer can afford to meet and beat competitors pricing like Home Depot. Besides, it's not their responsibility to shop for the best pricing for you.
