Since im still relatively new in the shooting sport, I was amazed at this one handgun this gentlemen was shooting. It was an indoor range and his gun was so loud that it just compresses the air and makes me jump every time he shoots. Still learning my trigger control, it was soo hard for me to fire my handgun without flinching to the booms, and yet I loved it!

So tell me what is your loudest handgun?:D

What makes it loud?
Do you wait for your fellow neighbours or just go at her?

i have a 45 acp and 9mm both are loud without ear plugs, i only did that once when i forgot to put them in my range bag(the ringing in my head lasted 2 days), with ear plugs in its not bad at all

Geez, you guys have me feeling underpowered. I just have a S&W 686 6", in 357 mag. My loudest load is a max charge of H110 under a 158gr XTP. With the electronic earmuffs you can still hear the echo at our outdoor range after they stop cancelling the sound.

my loudest would be S&W Model 629 Classic - 6 1/2" stainless, with 44 Magnums. It also shoots Specials but those are not very loud - good for letting my friends, family and inlaws try it when they visit from Canada ;)

I affectionately call it "Boomer".

Wanted one ever since Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry made the Model 29 (blued, not stainless) famous. So I jumped when an acquaintance decided to sell, bonus was that he just wanted to get a bit better price than pawn shops had offered, and know it "went to a good home".

A friend of mine use to own a Glock 9mm with a notch out of the slide with ports on the top of the barrel. It was louder than any other handgun I've shot beside. Including 44 cal and any 45 cal.

Funny story, I was at the range one day sighting in and an instructor a few stalls down was letting some newbies try his AR15, he went up and down the line warning everyone it would be loud...so I broke this one ^^^^ out, the AR didn't sound so loud anymore...FWIW this gun has sent other Open shooters running.

What is it?

My loudest is a 5 inch Smith model 629 44 mag. However, I tried a friends 460v and that is much louder! Makes my 629 look like a cup cake. Can't wait to try the .500:rockOn:

I've never shot anything really big but a 357 hand load of W-296 topped with a 158 gr jacketed bullet fired from a 4" barrel makes a serious pop and very large muzzle flash!
