Your opinion with Taurus 669 and Ruger GP100

Stay with the Ruger every time.
Taurus is not the piece of crap it used to be... nowdays pretty good really.... for the price. But... the Ruger is much better. I like the little press button to release the cylinder... buttons good.

While I'm a die-hard S&W fan when it comes to wheelguns, the Ruger would be my second choice.

Your are less likely to have problems with the Ruger than the Taurus. Taurus warranty service is virtually nonexistent as I understand it.

I was never a big fan of Ruger revolvers...they're decent guns but they looks outdated to me...Taurus gets my vote!

Smith & Wesson seems to be the industrial standard when revolvers are concerned. Is it worth the difference in monetary value that people are asking with comparable models from different makers? I usually keep what I buy for a very long time. Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, the S&Ws are worth the additional price. They usually have good triggers out of the box, have the best chamber/throat/forcing cone tolerances, and they look the best.

Also, don't forget that there are lots of perfectly good used S&Ws out there for reasonable prices.

If you want a gun that you will keep for a long time, the cost difference is small when you amortize it over many years.

I like my stainless 669 alot. I prefer it over any of my others, ruger incl.

Some of rugers investment castings are kind of crude looking..... just my opinion. And the quality of some of there products has dropped off bigtime(10-22's specificaly).

have no experience withTaurus guns, didn't hear anything bad about them...
I have, however a GP100 in stainless, that i bought 19 years ago.
Still looks, handles, shoots and locks uip like new...
never had the slightest issue with this gun.
definitly a Keeper for sure...

Yes, S&Ws are well worth the premium. Just compare a S&W to a Ruger or Taurus side by side and it will immediately be apparent which one is better made.
