Youth Stock On a Full Size Savage Rifle??

Hello all,

A guy I work with bought the Savage Rifle with the scope from Cabelas last year. He is a shorter guy and said that the stock is just to long for him once he put on his jacket, etc.

Now its a synthetic stock so im guessing that cutting it down is out of the question.

He was wondering if he can get just a junior stock and put it on the rifle?

Does anyone know if this will work?

I bought a boyds thumbhole for $ 92.00 us and put it on a stevens 200 for the purpose of cutting it down to fit me .I think you can buy a ross classic from boyds to fit the savage as well if you don't like the thumbhole style stock.
 
Probably just as easy to buy an aftermarket stock from Boyds and cut it. The Youth stock would probably fit but it might be tough to get the stock separate.
 
You can order the youth stock but it is available only for short actions which severly limits you unless you're after 223, 22-250, 243, 7mm-08, or 308. It is available as a detachable magazine in synthetic, blind mag in wood. Check Savage's website. Any model with a "Y" in the model suffix is a youth model. Stocks can be ordered as replacement parts. Boyds may be a cheaper, easier option though.
