Yugo M48. Good or bad?

Thanks for all your input gents, it seems like I would probably change my mind and get a K98. Riflechair, that is a fine rifle, very nice.

Now, where can I find K98's for a decent price? I know Marstar has the with all unmatched numbers. Is that a bad thing?

Thanks

I'd buy from somewhere else, if possible. They originally had the matched serial numbered ones and I tried to pay for one while I was awaiting my paperwork (PAL) and they told me they should have some left by the time the paperwork clears but they had them all sold by then and I had to take a non-matched. Then the gun arrived with a broken firing pin and no sling. Finally got a sling but after promise after promise and months gone by they still sent me no replacement pin so I can't even shoot the gun. :(

I recommend patience
The nice Marstar mausers are now long gone. You can buy one from them because they are still available but I would wait.

Be prepared to pay a little more for a NICE piece. They show up from time to time on this board. I'll look around and see what I can find for you. I've seen very nice post WW2 Czech rework police rifles for the East German Police going for about the same price as the Marstar rifles and they are MINT.

Be patient, hold that fist full of dollars for the rifle rifle. It will pop up - its just a metter of timing.

Yugo is a stiff action, non-chromed bore, and doesnt have a bolt hold back like my dot 43 K98. Germans had the mauser perfect.

Your dot 43 has a chrome lined bore? Original barrel?

K98ks are definitely 'nicer' than the few M48s I've held, (including my K98), that's why I think the Zastava should command a lower price. Still good accurate 8mm mausers though.
