I'm having an issue with my M57 where empty casings will get stuck inside of the chamber after they've been extracted if they're reinserted. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes if i need to clear a jam the casing may end up being re-chambered and will then get stuck. When this happens, the slide will be locked forward or slightly back, and can't be opened. The only way to clear the jam is to forcibly break apart the gun and clear the casing with a rod. I attached a picture of a partially removed casing inside of the barrel. I'll add that the ammo i'm using is czech surplus SMG ammo

It's just Czech x25. The SMG thing is an old myth. Clean your gun well, specifically the chamber. Steel cases of all kinds are bad for not obturating properly and allowing carbon and other buildup into the chamber area where it normally would not get to with brass cases. That is my best guess anyways since the picture you said you attached doesn't appear to have attached properly.

Good advice above - Scrub that chamber and let us know how it goes.

The only other possibility I can think of is a badly pitted chamber from corrosive ammunition, you should be able to easily see if this is the case after cleaning it well.

I bought an M57 last year so I could shoot some of my Mauser C96 broomhandle reloads.
I found out that the chamber is very tight, would not chamber full length resized cases all the way, slide would not go all the way forward. case would be jammed in chamber.
Had to polish the chamber carefully, functions great now.
