Hello I'm pretty new to milsurplus rifle ( except the sks) and I just ordered a lgungmann ag 42b, it was advertised in 8mm mauser ( I know I know they are all in 6.5x55 except the 8mm mauser akim) but its a 1943 so its not a akim... so whatever il waith for it to arruve and inspect it closer and post pictures. But that's beside my point.

So as I mostly try to have only one rifle per caliber I was looking for a nice companion in 8mm mauser. I was looking at a vz24(tradex or (I know) lever) or a yugo m24 (marstar).

What would be your choice and why?

Thank you!

I have the Yugo M24/47 (mine was a cavalry carbine before it was converted to the 47 designation). It doesn't extract too well but it might just be because of me using the firearm left handed. I got mine from Marstar and I like it, it has some history. Never used the VZ 24 but I'm going to get one at some point. The cool part about the M24/47 was that it came with all the little accessories as well.

Personally I would go with the czech vz24, I have both and the czech is a better shooter and seems to have a smoother action, could just be the rifle but gotta go with my experience. Honestly though if you get either with a good bore you will be happy, nothing wrong with either one. Not to further confuse or dilute but consider a k98 German mauser as well, great rifles espiecially if you get the right one.

Well for me the German is just to much money and it does not have any accessories, I was looking at the zv24 from lever since they have a crate of 8mm I want , and there's also tradex that got the cz24, they don't have all the same accessories listed and discription but I was under the impression they were from the same tradex batch so should they be fairly similar?

Would the tradex vz 24 in very good condition worth 50 more dollard then the lever vz 24 in good condition?

I've had a few vz24's, but never owned the Yugo.

The vz24 does have a reputation for being one of the finest finished Mausers of all. That said (typed), I would wait until your Ljungman arrives before picking a companion caliber.

Definitely! Hopefully it should arruve in the middle of next week!
