Hi,

I am looking at buying a used Norinco SKS ( Not D). It comes with an ATI side folding stock only. Although I like it, I would also like to have a wooden stock for it. I found a good condition Yugo 59/66 stock for sale, and I was wondering if it would fit the Norinco.

Thanks for your help.

Yes it has been done. Maybe very minor fitting required, but an easy swap. the Yugo stocks are nice hardwood compared to the the Norinco's softer stocks.

Thanks for your help Steiner, but the SKS just sold so I no longer have to worry about putting a stock on it.

True, I was thinking about that later after I posted. The Yugo stock is still a good switch though. Cote-B get that Yugo stock and buy an Norinco when one shows up again. The Yugo stocks are harder to come by than the SKS.

I found a yugo stock listed as "very good" condition for 30$. The ad says it has a rubber butplate though, so I would assume that it was added on.

Does this sound like a good deal?

if its in very good cond then yup, a good deal , if you have a yugo or it will require some work to make it fit , also the spike wont work so you need to either not use the spike, or get a blade bayo or cut away the HG to make room .

if its a M59/66 then the rubber is standard equipment .

Thanks Curtton! You sure know your SKS's!

thanks... i like the yugo wood , i like the russian laminated even better but they are always expensive , say $75 . so instead of paying that amount , i hope you are on the list for the original russian SKS shipment.

In June I called SIR and had them put my name down for an SKS from the "Second shipment" that was originally due to come in sometime in December 08. This was when the first shipment had already been delayed until July, so who knows if this "Second" shipment will ever come in. The good part was that since I called in June, they did not require me to put any money down on it. I like the idea of having a nice russian SKS at somepoint, but at the moment any norc will do just fine so I can shoot the crap out of it and not feel too bad, especially since they have nice chrome lined bores.

good stuff, i will drink to that

Cheers!

I really regret not getting a Norinco from Epps Last fall when they had a load of like 30 of them. They sold out in about a week at 170$. I didnt have my license yet at that point, but I still should have put one on layaway until I got it! :bangHead:

One day I hope to have an SKS collection like you have
My list for SKS's I want : Norinco, Russian,Early Chinese, Romanian, Polish, Albanian, East German Karabiner S, North Korean and North Vietnamese . I will likely never see the latter 3 in my life, but I can still hope!

Yeah I was pretty sure Poland never made any, but I thought maybe they had made small numbers of them, so that today they are really rare. Thanks for the info though.
