Hey guys, been giving this gun some thought lately...and trying to remember when the last batch of these surfaced, who had them, etc. Always thought it was maybe the coolest version of the SKS, but only recently learned production was much later than the 1954 Russian I once owned. There are about 4-5 surplus rifles I'd eventually like to own if the world/prices get 1/2 normal again but for now....owning a gun means shooting it, so I'm no collector...nor does every specific of a gun's history really capture my attention. (lots of useless stuff does, I can assure you :) )

Anyhow, other than being a unique version, are these guns actually made any better? SKSs are inherently good/reliable, and between the action and so-so ammo, I think my expectations are in check. Just wanting to get a sense of whether or not this model brings anything special to the table while I prepare myself to find some nutty asking prices.

Naturally, photos are welcome. Everyone loves inspiration!

Thanks for taking a moment to reply.

Tradeex had a bunch in June 2018 priced at $795.

They can be dated by the letter prefix. D saw the grenade launcher in 1967 and F saw the introduction of night sights in 1969.

There was no extra charge for the cosmoline that the firearm was swimming in. Accuracy was on par with any other SKS.

They're cool looking alright. Nice machining. Heavier trigger, it seemed to me. Heavy lol.

The couple I had/shot were also typical SKS accuracy. Nothing different.

I've had both versions of the Yugo SKS and frankly the Russian made ones are nicer.

Agree. There is nothing quite like an original non-laminate Russian with the deep red hue of the arctic birch and how gorgeous that stock is.

Aside from the grenade launcher attachment...didn't the yugos have the adjustable gas port too - or maybe that was part of the deal with the grenade launcher.

They're certainly more collectable with arguably superior construction to Russian and Chinese. That being said, they are heavier and don't have chrome bores. IMO there are better SKS to shoot.

The Yugo sks was also produced without the Grenade launcher on the end also . as far as I'm concerned a much more user friendly rifle o shoot . not as heavy . laminated stocks . M59 ???? I saw two for sale quite a while ago .
