Hello all, ive just recently acquired consecutive serial numbered yugo sks's still packed in cosmo, and i was just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me some history / value of them

these guns are Perfect. Original stamped serials not electro stenciled or any of that has the grenade launcher sites (not sure if any came without)

I do not have much knowledge of sks's let alone yugoslavian sks's other then i was told they are the best when it came to the sks so any information would be wonderful

Thank you in advance

If you need better pictures of a certain part just let me know, as i said i have no experience with sks's

they re the best i do not know but at that price they better be lol ...

i know a few people that preferred the sks to the ak47 during the wars in yugoslavia but i cannot guarantee they re the same.

you re reaching the t81 price very soon. just my 2 cents.

They look great! Usually see them for $600-800 depending on conditon.
They are not chrome lined bores so make sure to clean appropriately if your shoot corrosive ammo through them.

Im not sure if i should even clean out the cosmo to shoot them? i imagine they are more valuable in their original condition in original grease ?

They arent any marks from disassembly/ takedown
Everything matches im pretty unsure how to treat these two , i figure leave them as is ?

Very nice! To the right person I'd say 1500 for both but I have a feeling they will be worthless in the near future or you could get whatever the government will give you. I'd clean them up and shoot them while you still can. IMO

Did they explain why they preferred the SKS?

Did they explain why they preferred the SKS?

dont quote me as it has been a while but first was the magazine (not risk to loose it on the case of anything happening) and second the cost.

i think they preferred to sell the ones they found and keeping the sks.

they were all trained with ak47 in the army (that was 3 years at the time of yugoslavia). and maybe the caches surrounding villages were full of sks more than ak but i cannot guarantee the whole as you can imagine they were talkative about it. but they still have mauser 98 and zastave 48 and sks not that much ak47. again i know one guy that kept is ak47 but he has 3 sks ...

technically i do not know as i was trained with magazines rifles and non magazines and you were always using more than one in pouch.

i may dig next time im visiting them.

I don't want to see the rifle that makes anyone prefer an SKS to because of accuracy ;) Even the often touted extra sight radius, hard to imagine there being an appreciable difference.

Medvedqc thanks for the explanation.

The one I got was in grease, and was MINT, matching numbers and all, loves it, it's priceless to me but if I had to sell it I'd take 1000 lol, price I paid and the pouches and sling, would be 350 added

I bought 4 X 59-66 in heavy cosmoline from the late batch, those are brand new and likely, only test fired.

I cleaned one for me and left the 3 others in cosmoline for my youngers ones under 5 years old (2 grandkids and one great grandkid ) so they can have one of those 59-66 when time come.

That's awesome, I got a Yugo sling, 2 Oilers with pouches and 2 ammo pouches for 350, a friends grandmother took the military ones from his dad when he was home with her rifle, and gave better ones, so I got the military ones from him, they look easily copied too.

Editing to say, I bought the ones that they stored, these were replaced by the family of the soldier, I bought, wasn't given, hope it makes sense
