I have a friend who has just gotten a Yugoslavian Mauser M48BO made in Bosnia by "ZRAK" chambered in 8x57 (8mm Mauser) that he wants to put a scope on. He was told that supposedly it takes a special scope and mount so the bolt handle will clear the scope and these mounts and scopes seem to be unobtainable here in Canada. I am hoping someone here will know about these guns and help us put standard bases, rings and scope on this gun. He is supposed to send me some pics and I will post them as soon as I get them.

Standard base is easy if you want to drill and tap the reciever. Depending on the bolt handle, you may need high(possibly quite high) rings. You may need to bent the bolt handle more than it is, if it's a bent bolt mauser.

Also, if it were my rifle I'd do as antiqueguy said and put a no gunsmith mount on it.

He can get a Zrak scope mount for his 48BO and even a Zrak scope. There was one on the EE a short time ago. The Zrak scope is produced by Zeiss Jena and has decent glass.

Thanks for a the help guys. Does anyone know of a retail source in Canada for the ZRAK scopes and mounts or do I only find them in the EE? Also if I want an aftermarket no drill type mount do I just search large ring mauser mounts or do I need a specific Yugo M48BO Mauser mount? As you can tell I don't know a lot about these, I'm just trying to help a friend of a friend who unfortunately knows less than I do and isn't a member here though I hope to change that.

I don't know if there is a dealer for Zrak in Canada or not. The Yugo 48 is a large ring contour but an intermediate action length, a little shorter than the K98k action so the bolts will not interchange.
