Yukon Grizzly hunt spring 2006

Just because an outfitter has a concession in a certain area doesn't mean I as a resident can't hunt there.
It means another outfitter cannot bring clients into another outfitter's area.

All that is required here for a Yukon resident to guide a CANADIAN resident here is a Class "C" guide licence, which there is no fee charged. Can only be done every 3 years and only for certain areas and species [no sheep I believe]

So I don't understand the "Sherriff of Nottingham" comment:confused:

What does the Yukon Govt's policy on guiding and outfitting have to do with 2 scumbags poaching a grizzly bear?????

Sounds like some people here are trying to exonerate the 2 POACHERS here on CGN.............I don't get it again:confused:

Oh well, I guess different ethics apply to different people and what they're willing to condone.
I choose to condone poaching.

I agree, lets let this go until somebody chooses to make a statement, dont blame them if they dont, or if they even come back, at least under the same handle

Outfitters in Sask have designated areas where only that outfitter can guide clients. I expect it's similar in the Yukon.

I don't think playing musical bear tags is a very good idea, and I doubt the CO's did either.

Can a client even be out of the designated hunting area with the guide, while the guide fills his resident tag?

I'm a bit confused as to the chonological order of the events leading up to the conviction.

1) Said parties shoot a Grizzly in the wrong area in the Yukon.

2)After some tag switcheroo they return to whitehorse and report the kill.

3) Pics are posted here on a successful hunt.

4)Some time later, the pics come down and charges are laid (approx the same time?)

Was the investigation based on the post here? Or do you think they went back to the kill site for DNA testing? Anybody know how this may have transpired?

You win, and I think your right...

I'd suggest asking the outfitter that missed out on $25K for the guided hunt. Outfitters are pissy enough when resident hunters take "their" animals of "their" lease land (which is perfectly legal).

Guys - i'm thinking it's best for all right at the moment if maybe we just stop talking about it for right now. If someone passionately disagrees with me, pm me and i'll consider reopening it.

But for several reasons, maybe we want to at least wait till after the last person has his day in court. I'm going to lock this down for right now.
