Hi, im wondering if anyone on here has gone to this or something like it?

i just sent my application in today and i pretty excited about, i think it will be an awesome time

its everything i like to do for fun but in the mountains in the Yukon instead of boring old Nova Scotia

i have an odd obsession with vast wilderness, mountains and huge spaces, so to me B.C. the Yukon and Alaska are the coolest places one can go on this earth.

seems like an awesome 21 day all inclusive vacation to me
I am just doing it for the experience honestly.

It might help you get a foot in the door to get a job especially from being down east. I called people when I started and got a job wrangling for $75 a day. I wrangle for 1.5 seasons then started to guide.

Working in the mountains is some thing you will remember for the rest of your life.

Oh yes that is true, and something to think about sure. I do plan on moving to BC with my family next summer. For the simple reason i really want too and we jave been planning it for a year now. So getting into guiding may be something id like to do.

But i havent really considered doing it as a job.

I think this is a great idea for a young person to look at as a vacation; only about $3500 for a three week adventure.
Meant to be for locals to learn guiding, so it may involve some book learning that will not transfer to other localities.
Guiding is a great way for Northerners to capitalize on their location, hopefully many locals will pursue this opportunity.

That 75/ day, translates to from before sunrise, till after sun down and it's physically hard work :( Compare that to what the hunter is paying and you're just slave labor, even sweat shops pay better.

Grizz

This is what im thinking. Im 33 years old now. Also have a wife and 4 kids at home. So a vacation it will be.

Also about the book learning part. Even not being able to tranfer to other localities oh well it isnt going to bad to learn. Just maybe not usefull lol i know a lot of usless crap.

Its a good thing for them to put on. They can get all the top people for their own outfitters outlet and teaches people the skills needed get a foot in the door to start this type of work

And im quite aware this isnt going to be easy, and not so much a "vacation". Im sure its going to be a lot of work and hilking throught the mountians wont be easy. But i veey much like doing that kind of thing and am excited to do it.
