Looking for recommendations for a Yukon outfitter for the 2010 season. Preferably somewhere to go hunting during the day, and return to a lodge for the night. Fly or drive in doesn't matter, game doesn't matter as long as it's not black bear, deer or moose since we have those here in ON.

Oh, also looking for a lodge/resort/whathaveyou in or near Whitehorse...somewhere NICE...the girl will want to do some shopping while I'm in the bush, & the more she's pampered the happier I'll be, ha!!! Any recommends would be appreciated.

Also if anyone has had any bad experiences with any particular outfitters/hotels/resorts/etc. up there please shoot me a PM. TIA

Likely a good idea to decide what it is you want to hunt as outfitters all have their strengths and weaknesses.

I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment if you want to find a lodge near Whitehorse to hunt from...

Anyway, these guys have a good reputation

Definitely, unless you've got even more money to fly out very early each day, and then you can't hunt for six hours each time after getting off of the plane.

Chris Widrig is certainly one of the best!

Isn't one of our members a guide there? Todd Bartell or some such, give him a call, not sure on the name or spelling.

If by "guide" you mean "Works at Source for Sports in Vanderhoof" then yes. :D

I'd be shocked if you find the sort of hunt you're looking for with a lodge and shopping within daily commuting distance. Have you ever seen the Yukon?

I'm surprised we made it most of the way through a page without some dipstick chiming in that Shockey is the antichrist!

HEHEHEHE!:D

Decide what animals you want then we can better help you

There are great moose outfitters, sheep outfitters, caribou outfitters.

And the moose are the biggest in the world.......

Book her into the Banff Springs Hotel ... lots of pampering & shopping all within walking distance. You'll have to do without for 10 days or so, but
she'll probably be happier ! :D
