Zastava EZ9 9mm (Sig P226 Copy?)

I was surfing Frontier Firearms website and came across the Zastava EZ9 in 9mm. I immediately thought, Sig 226 copy based on the looks but apparently it is based off of a CZ99. It does have some different controls, skeletonized hammer, etc. Just thought I would share as it looks interesting. It's priced at $569.95 at Frontier Firearms. Thought's? Here's a review I found.

Me being a lefty, really makes me like this gun. Love the ambi slide release/de-cocker and mag release.
Makes me think why the #### other companies cant make some pistols like this, (ie, sig, cz....)

Also, I'm pretty sure they didn't use a nork as their template.

IMO, getting all the ambi controls I would say yes.

I'm sure the finish is better as well. The EZ9 is not meant to be a Sig copy any how. It is based off of the CZ99. Their just happens to be a resemblence.

From what I have read and seen on the internet, it seems this is a solid pistol with an excellent track record like you have said. It's just not a well known pistol I guess.

Zastava is very well known manufacturer of firearms in Europe, just not well known in North America.

There is absolutely no comparison between this pistol and Norinco. NONE.

Arguably, Zastava makes better AK 47 than Russians, and best SKS in business.

Their pistols are very, very good as well.

When you mention that this particular model is copy of CZ99, we should elaborate on that a little.

CZ99 is pistol made by Crvena Zastava, in Kragujevac, former Yugoslavia, and now Serbia.

This factory has nothing to do with well known CZ- products that are coming from Czech Republic, that brought us famous CZ75, Shadow, Tactical Sport and numerous other handguns, rifles, shotguns etc...
Czech CZ stands for Ceska Zbrojovka, and every similarity in name between Serbian CZ and Czech CZ is purely coincidental.


Now back to this pistol that OP mentions.

It is an excellent firearm, in my opinion technically based on SIG 226, finish marginally less pleasing, while mechanics of it are possibly tougher than original.

It is mil spec, used by Serbian military officers, police and special forces.
Ergonomics, reliability and design are very good.

For individuals that like SIG 226, this is an excellent and cost efficient alternative.

Zastava has been building ordnance since 1853 (pistols, rifles, MGs, APCs etc)
