Zastava m70

They are as accurate as any other hunting rifle. There are a ton of threads on here regarding the Zastava rifles and should show up in a search.

Here's a review I did of one of mine.

Just bought the same gun last week from Epps. It was made one right before yours.
I was looking for a stainless bolt action with iron sights and this fits the bill.
Thanks for your review.

Folks,

Looking at a zastava because of their mauser action but was just wondering how accurate they are out of the box

Tks

My 1st center fire rifle was a Whitworth in 30-06 and a gift from the uncle who taught me how to shoot properly. I still have that gun and it's superb Mauser action and it still groups pretty good.

Not long ago, I acquired my first Zastava. It's chambered in 9.3x62

'Bang for the buck', I can't complain.

Again, taking into consideration the financial outlay, my 2nd Zastava arrived just the other day and if it's anything like the 1st, I'll be well pleased.
No photos, yet but after I start working up some reloads fo it, I'll post photos. Looks wise, much the same as the 9.3.

Nice! 7x64? You mean the serial is one digit off of mine? I should have bought and owned consecutive serialed Zastavas!;)

Yes 7X64! And the serial # is one before yours.
I had a look at it on the way up north to hunting, and decided to grab it on the way back home.
Glad I did.
Tradex had another M70 SS in 7x64 listed a couple of weeks ago when I started looking at them, but it is sold now too.

That is pretty cool!

Hopefully it shoots as well as mine. It should.

What are you putting on it for a scope?

I'm looking for a Leupold FX-II 4x33.
Hopefully the Warne 2 pce scope mounts are low enough to allow use of the iron sights with the Quick release rings removed.

I had a custom rifle built on a Zastava action (Rem 798 actually) for my son. The smith did everything to it that is supposed to enhance accuracy, true the action, true the bolt, Douglas barrel, high end composite stock, etc. I also gave that son a Marlin XL7. The Marlin out shoots the custom Mauser by a wide margin, at a tenth of the price. Some days you can't catch a break. I guess he can boast about the custom but he shoots the Marlin. BTW both are in 30.06.

What is the barrel length of the normal M70 in say 30-06? When I go on the Zastava site it quotes 2 different lengths 600mm and 560mm. I am looking for a regular stock M70 in 30-06 with a 560mm barrel or 22". Is this what trade ex has and other dealers that have the Zastavas recently?

Also does anybody know the length of pull on these rifles, they look huge!

Well, better ask the sellers. Most of those I handled of the recent imports were 22". But I have one with a 24" too.
As for the LOP, they usually have a LOP of about 14" / 14.25" which is pretty standard.
