I just unpacked a new 6.5x55 Zastava Mauser from Tradex, all I can say is wow what a rifle! Feeds and functions perfectly with some 160 RN Hornady’s that I have for my Ruger #1 and T3, Only slightly rough, but nothing working the action for a while won’t smooth out. I mite just have to order another, maybe a .458!

It was a while back, but I was looking for something in 9.3x62, aka .366 Wagner;), :)something new and different to play with. I picked up a full wood model from Tradex. I have soft spot for full wood Mannlicher style rifles, but ONLY in European calibres. In preparation, I picked up a quantity of Lapua brass and some 285gr PRVI bullets from a local site member. As you've mentioned, they are a little rough or gritty when cycling the action and I had to get the stock shortened. Length of pull was a little excessive. That all being considered, I was dazzled by the accuracy with my first couple of handload trials. So much so, I promptly ordered another of the same, but in 7x57. They may not match the quality of finish of others on the market, but definitely, 'Good Bang For The Buck':).

I just order a .458 to go with my 6.5 swede, I think I will leave it with irons and shoot cast bullets, a 450 bullet barn at about 1600 fps should be nice.

I've had mine for about 4 months, and I agree also in 6.5 x 55. My bolt was a bit tight, but traced it to it rubbing on the stock. Filed the stock notch a bit deeper, and perfection. I have fired no factory ammo, only homeloads with Privi 120g JHPBT. Sub MOA with the heavier loads. I could not be happier!!!

As I made mention of in post #3, I purchased a pair of full length wood Zastavas. One in;) '.366 Wagner' and another of the same in 7x57:). Just did a quick check of what's now available in full wood models on the Tradex site. Nada???

I e mailed Tradex and asked if anymore are coming Anthony said no new shipments expected, maybe they aren't going bring anymore in as part of their downsizing the business, that's why I grabbed the second one now.

Thanks for the update.:)Much appreciated. I was planning on contacting them but thought first, I'd see if anyone on site had that info. Thanks again:).

Lets hope that if Tradex stops selling these someone else will, they are great rifles for the money.

lol i doubt someone will try as hard as anthony to get those rifles. even us zastava is not bringing in bolt actions they re so busy with the demand of zastava ak47 ... we ve been lucky and spoiled but we did not see it.

My Zastava M70 in 6.5X55 out of the box was printing handloads at 100 yds like buckshot at 35yds. My Carl Gustov using the same ammo was MOA. Turned out the bedding was rough and uneven. Once I corrected that she'll put 3 on a dime at 100yds.

I have 2 M70's...a 7x57 blued with the Monte Carlo stock and a 7x64 stainless synthetic. The 7x64 is a keeper, made during Remington partnership years before that imploded. It's really smooth and very accurate. The 7x57 is pretty rough by comparison, it's ok for the price, but I picked up a Win M70 featherweight in 7x57 that I'll be keeping, the Zas M70 will be sold at some point when I burn all the ammo I loaded for it.

I tried my 6.5x55 with some PRVI 139 SP’s and iron sights, it shoots very well, I think I will end up scoping it with a 1-4x leupold I have sitting on my shelf.

two 8x57's and two 300WM synthetics remain. The rest are all lefties. If I had the spare cash, I'd buy another 8x57. Great calibre!

I've got the .458 as well, but I haven't shot it yet ...because I'm having a heck of a time finding brass or dies. Anybody have a lead on where I could find some?

I had hoped to shoot 45/70 cast loads too, luckily, it's not overly difficult to find bullets, it's just the other stuff that's been a pain

458wm is an epic cartridge. I have an interarms mark x with a 26.5" barrel and its awesome at all power levels.
300gr hp @ 2600fps
350gr rn @ 2500fps
400gr ppsn @ 2400fps
500gr at 2200fps
I havent shot cast from it i save those for my 4570

It's exactly like a big 45-70 with cast loads.

Check out Ellwood Epps, a site sponsor. They currently have over +20 Zastava LK M70's in stock, many different calibers, polymer and walnut stocks (https://ellwoodepps.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?dir=desc&order=relevance&p=1&q=zastava). $595 - $795 depending on stock or caliber.

I purchased the last 8 x 57mm two weeks ago. Lovely rifle with nice bluing and a great piece of wood to match. Haven't taken it to the range yet, but hope to soon.

Cheers!
