Zastava Mausers! Lots and Lots and Lots! Check them out!

I've owned the American, axis & and the Zastava in 6.5x55 and a 375 h&h. The Axis and Americans have their advantages - mainly being lighter.

The Zastava seems much better built, heavier, all steel floor plate, follower, etc. proper blueing, very good adjustable trigger. The action is based on the FB 98 variant so aftermarket parts are interchangeable. I have found them to be very accurate as well.

I have also owned a few surplus Husqvarna rifles like the 1640 and prefer the Zastava. The stocks are stronger and don't tend to crack as often. The trigger is also way better.
I got a wrong impression that you don’t like Zastava hence my question. I had two and was quite happy with both although the older one was much better built in regards to the quality of fit and finish. I smoothen the bolts as the factory actions on them are a bit rough but after the smoothing procedure it was gliding….

So what is the actual condition of the barrels on these rifles? It appears that the firearms were graded according to calibre and condition. With tax and shipping it’s close to a 1k so not that far from a brand new tikka. Most of these Zastava look lightly used, any info on the condition would be appreciated.

Received one of them today. Bore is in very good/excellent condition. It almost appears that some of them are new old stock that appear to have been sitting poorly stored. Possibly a crate? Bluing is great, needs a de-grease, has some cosmoline in the action. Mines' dated 1994.
Happy with the purchase, waiting for two more.

Just got my other two. Bores are also very good to excellent. I will note to those considering buying, the ones with the military style bridge and safety are Intermediate length actions, most likely repurposed M24/47 or m48 actions . The commercial ones are full length Mauser actions.

Very happy with my purchases!
