Zastava

interesting that some zastava priced at 400 something, some at 700 dollars at tradeex. all are new ones.

Baribal once explained why they are different with prices,but I can not find his post
 
My father in law just bought a new Zastava in 6.5x55. Good bluing and OK finish on the wood, feels good to the shoulder, iron sights (which are lacking on most bolt guns these days). The bolt is a tad sticky out of the box but im sure it ill slicken up with use. First groups were just over MOA at 100m

I have one in cal .308 from Tradex for the price .... it is very good the thrigger is fully adjustable

the blue very nice , the bolt easy and smoud but it is a long action for a .308 they use the same action for most calibers

it was very accurate but I like to make things better ! I did a bedding easy to do lots of spaces to fill !

barrel free floting even beafore my bedding


no shame to compare with low cost Savage and Remington , You have a lot for the amount you pay for a Zastava

I have some others more expansives rifles and they don nt do any better I have a lot of respect for this product

I think the price went up a little bit due of is popularity , if you whant one well get it and you will not be desapoint

It's not related to popularity, as Zastava rifles are around in Canada since the end of the '70s. The low prices you see (saw) are for a certain batch of rifles (stamped USSG). The "higher" prices reflect the "real" market price, closer to what it was before the USSG ones and also depend on model, origin of the import and, for some, caliber.

even at the actual price if you compare with the euro market where most of the production is going this is still a bargain.
im very happy with mine and there is no stamp on it like USGG or KA-VAR like our southern neighbours got.
plus there are coming with open sights and they re a little less rough than the USGG ones.
we can state too that the blueing and the stock is the same quality as it was in the 80s so there are good and especially at that price.

seems the next batch is supposed to come in May 2013 so we ll see what s next.

I have on in .22LR and it is incredibly accurate and I like the open sights. Perfect for grouse, rabbits and other small game. I would assume the larger caliber centerfire rifles are great as well.
