Quality was excellent on the one I had last summer. It was a Remington model 5. They were imported into the US by a lot of different companies and sold under different names. The Remington came in a laminate walnut stock with nice fullsize sporter dimensions. It shot some sub 1/2" groups @ 50 yds with Rem subsonics, and a lot of sub 1" groups with almost everything except T22 which has been horrible in every .22 I've tried it in. Live round/dud extraction was done with a cleaning rod only as the dual extractors were 100% incapable of pulling any bullet out of the rifling. Other than that the magazines could use some polishing and feeding from them was quite stiff. I'd look into a Mossberg plinkster mag which can reportedly be fitted to the Zastava quite easily. OE mags are expensive and some brands only give you one.
Yes, they couldn't pull a live round or dud out of the chamber at all. The chamber is quite tight, more so than Savages I've owned. Extraction of spent casings was never a problem, just live rounds and duds.
