I'm looking for a scope for a Dall Sheep hunt and have pretty much decided on a Zeiss. On this hunt I've pretty much decided on that I am not cheaping out on anything. I have a Winchester Model 70 extreme weather SS I just bought from a fellow GunNutz.

So, is there any point in spending the extra dollars on the Duralyt over the regular Conquest? If it's worth the extra dollars I don't mind spending it. My normal hunting is deer and moose. I kind of like the 2-8x in the Duralyt.

One other point to mention is that I am 58 years old and am having a bit of trouble getting my Bushnell to focus as good as it used to. (maybe it's just the scope)

Anyone that has some experience with these scope I would appreciate some advice.

Well the Conquest is the bottom of the Zeiss line.Optically they are very nice, ruggedness is well, who knows, I have never dropped one.

Only your eyes will tell, when it comes to optics, if you see that much better with the Duralyt , well, then that answers that. ;)

I dropped my rifle on a sheep hunt when I slipped walking across a talus slope. The rifle landed Zeiss Conquest side down and took a tumble. Put a gouge on the objective bell of the Conquest. Took it to the range the next day to see if I lost zero and it was still bang on. Two full hunting seasons and one tumble down a slope and the only time I changed anything is when I switch from 140 grain bullets to 160. I can attest that my Conquest is reliable.

As for the regular vs. Duralyt I don't think the Duralyt would do anything for you on a sheep hunt considering you are not usually taking shots at first or last light. If you have trouble picking up the crosshair in normal light Than by all means go with the Duralyt, but it won't help you focus, just help you find the aiming point when your black crosshair meets a dark object.

I love my conquest here is a picture of it sitting in the snow at ~7000 feet.

I have a Conquest as well and the optics are 100 x's better than your Bushnell (which I also have), and I think you will find you like the way the ocular lens focus works to focus the crosshairs, I like the rapid 600 or 800 better than the Z-plex reticle

Good luck on the hunt
