I just bought a V6 5-30 in MoA, had it now for a couple months, and it is a fantastic scope for the price. I’ll give you my quick run down on it. Haven’t seen a V4 so can’t help you on it.
I am comparing the V6 to my Nightforce 7-35 ATACR-have 2, Zeiss Victory V8 4.8-35, and my S&B, and for the price, which is no small difference, it is very close to those. For roughly half the price for the V6.
Very generous eye box, easy to look thru, tons of elevation built in, and rings were easy to find and not too expensive, with it being a 30mm main tube.
The glass in the V6 is very very good! Everyone likes different things about scopes, but my number one want is super clear and good glass, then eye box and eye relief, then elevation, then reticle last, for me. Different people value these categories in different order, and that’s totally fine. I’m a glass snob now and after a while, looking thru scopes all day, reticles all same similar to me. I actually prefer less cluttered and busy reticles to the new trend of Xmas tree reticles and tons of stuff going on in the glass. I shot lots of long distance steel outings, and we use our scopes as spotters to see hits and misses, plus we look thru our scopes for hours on end, not just an hour or so at the range, and busy reticles get to me after a few hours.
The reticle is good, but not as nice as the MOA-R in my Atacr. Eyebox is better then my S&B, and equal to my Nightforce.
Glass is 95% as good as my top tier scopes. If you didn’t have them sitting side by side, you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference, the V6 glass is that good.
For 1/2 the price of a Nightforce 7-35, and only 2/3 the cost of the Zeiss V8, its a home run in my opinion.
Lots of great scopes in this price range though, and lots of other good choices. Omer tells me good things about the new top of the line Bushnell stuff, says great glass and features in the Swarovski scopes he’s compared the Zeiss stuff to, and guys are raving about the new Mark 5 Leupold, but haven’t heard a cdn price on it. Lots of new scope stuff and companies coming out too, but I will not put down 2500$ on a new scope manufacturer until they have a bit of a track record. The Zeiss stuff, and I’ve owned 3 Zeisses, is rock solid and built like Swiss watches.
When I talked to Omer about a new scope for my current build, we went thru a bunch of scope options and talked all the strengths and weaknesses of all the different brands he sells, and he evaluates everything, and we kept coming back to the Zeiss V6. I was a bit leery of a mid tier scope being as good as all the top of the line stuff I’ve gotten from Omer over the years, And Omer knows how picky I am about scopes and great glass now, but he was confident that for what I needed this scope to do, that was the best choice for me.(As usual, his advice and reviews were right on the money, lol).
For me though, if I couldn’t afford 5-6K for my custom rifle build, I’d buy this scope again in a heartbeat and never feel like I left anything on the table, it’s that good.
