I have a .270 winchester I want to get a zeiss conquest 1" tube scope for with the rapid z6 for. I believe it only comes in a 3X9 or a 3.5X10 with the z6 reticule. To get more magnification you have to step up to the z8 and get 4X14. My problem is that I used the reticule calculator on the zeiss site for the type of ammo I would use (barnes triple shock 130grain) and the rapid z6 reticule works out almost perfectly in 100 yard increments. This is great for hunting when pared up with a 3x9 or 3.5x10 . Problem is I also like to paper punch and like a little more magnification for that. So I look at the rapid z8 reticule and the bullet drop indicators are not as cut and dry 100 markers. They are kind of all over. I know I could get the cheat sheet and put it on the inside of my flip cap etc. There is also the varmint and z1000 but I don't think they fit my requirements. I guess what I am asking is are any of us out there using a zeiss rapid z scope with a .270? and how do you find the bullet drop reticule in terms of accuracy of drop vs range? also the zeiss calculator is based on a 24" barrel. I have a 22" one. Not sure if that will really make any difference though. I think I read somewhere that velocity lowers about 50-100 fps per inch?

That means nothing, since the velocity of a load can vary 100fps or more in two guns with the same length barrel.

The one thing that I don't like about Zeiss is that they don't have enough selection of rapid z reticles with some scope models.I purchased a Diavari 6-24x56 for my 6.5x47 target rifle, and my only choices were the z-1000 and the varmint reticle, neither of which come close to the trajectory of the load that I will be using.

Yeah the limited selection is my issue as well I think. .270 in my load matches up nice with the Z-600 but I cannot get it in a 4X14. The Z-800 comes in 4X14 but does not match up well at all.
