Hey guys,
Looks like I got taken for a ride on some used 8x42 zeiss conquest by a member. I sent them in to Gentec for what I was hoping to be an easy collimation adjustment. They went to Zeiss in the states who want to replace them for a cool “discount” price of $1400. I’m wondering if there’s any other repair centres that might do Zeiss work or if sending to Germany would help? Any suggestions appreciated. I traded off a great hunting rifle along with a Leupold scope and now the fella won’t reply to messages here or emails….

Sorry man I think you're stuck between a rock and a hard place! I had the same problem with Minox back in the day on an older model. Their options were pay $2100 for an upgrade or get a downgraded scope to what I sent in for warranty.

Buddy just sent his Zeiss in and they sent him back a new one. He wanted mils though and would have even paid the upgrade cost. But they just sent him back an equivalent MOA model

Hmm ! Why will Zeiss not repair them ? Did you not get a Explanation ? RJ

There are a few binocular repair shops in the USA that will do wonderful work on various glass.
Many rebuild old collectible or newer glass.
Google them and check them out.

My friend is having a bad go with Zeiss over a scope that had internal problems after being put on a 338 ultra mag. I’m heavily invested in zeiss and these stories don’t give me any confidence. I have had to deal with both Swaro and leupold warranty, they treated me great. Good luck man, I hope something good comes of your situation.

Reached out to 4 different independent repair shops, 2 replies and one is confident they can fix them so they may be going to California now….
It’s hopeful but still sucks as I’ve got my old Swarovski I bought used in the 90’s that have bounced around a lot of hills in the Yukon and BC and never had an issue of any kind.

Yup no reply from him at all. That’s what I was thinking, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but by their description of damages it seems excessive and he did have them packed fairly well.

A Zeiss dealer told me how bad Zeiss customer service was, when I was in there looking to buy a spotting scope... How bad does it need to be when your own dealer has nothing good to say about your warranty support?

By contrast he said Swarovski bent over backwards to make sure the customer was happy, and they often corrected more than just the reported problem

Oddly enough.....i sent a zeiss scope to Gentec for my buddy, and they replaced it with one worth 3x the one i sent in.
Lol it was 'too nice' for my friend so he just sold it.

zeiss had a policy in europe of not taking care anything over 30 years old...but after 10 years they were covering parts needed to be fixed or replaced not manpower ... my dad had an issue with his old 8 or 7x56 binoculars needless to say the outcome was not good. SB was even worst when i had an issue with a battue scope long time the french representant did not want to do anything with it and germany shop was not easy to deal with: sb done for me. i had good chance with kahles and swaro.

seems it can be an hit or miss for zeiss: good luck to the op.
