How is the Zeiss warranty for Canadians? do they have a repair centre in Canada like Leupold and Bushnell?

has anyone here dealth with Zeiss warranty at all? what were your impressions/experiences?

thanks in advance.

Zeiss warranty in Canada is sent to Gentech International, 90 Royal Crest Court, Markham On., L3R9X6, (905) 513-7733. They will either forward to USA (Coquests) or Germany (Victory/Diavari). Have only sent a couple of scopes back over the years...Conquest took 2 months, Diavari took 4 months. Phil.

thank you,
so are the warranty terms and service roughly the same as Leupold?

the reason i ask is because different companies have different ways of honoring their Lifetime warranty. some will examine the product to make sure it wasnt abused, and if not they just repair/replace it immediately.

others kick and scream about replacing it, argue with the customer, and will try and make any excuse to blame the malfunction on the customer.

just wondering how they were. anyone have any positive/negative experiences with them?

I'd be very interested in hearing how people have made out with warranty issues on Zeiss optics as well. Anybody have first hand experience? I have a Zeiss Diavari with a good sized scratch on the lens from the PO. I'm sure that I'd be charged heavily to have it repaired. I would be really happy if they'd fix it on warranty though.

2 months. Wow. Last Leupold issue I had was on a 20+ year old scope and I had it back within 8 days of shipping it.
I think I know where I'll be staying.

I had a new Zeiss Conquest scope that had a speck in the interior lens housing. Out of the 5 scopes this was the only one with a defect. I walked into the store and walked out with a replacement. 5 minutes. I know where my money went and how I'll continue to buy my scopes (Ie from reputable dealers that stand behind the products and deal with the warranty stuff on their end ) ;).

After 20 years I'd probably want a new scope, if not then a few months wouldn't be that big of a deal. 20 years of use, 2 months in service. I wish my truck had that service record.

I am still amazed by all the people that think all you are paying for when you buy a scope is the glass. And no the official tests actually had leupold, Ziess and B&L running neck and neck (in the same price range) last time I checked. If you want to really step up in the glass department you needed to go to a S&B or a Swaro.
But remember this, back in the 90's when you could hammer a tent peg into rock with a Leupold and it would still hold zero, Ziess hunting scopes leaked through their adjustments if the caps weren't screwed on tight.
The Conquests have nothing on the VX II line. I would by a Zeiss now, but it wouldn't be for what they are asking for them.

I didn't chose the Conquest scopes over the Leupold because of the glass. Both the top line Leupold and Zeiss Conquest are very good. I chose the Conquest for the Rapid Z reticles, the no lash problem with the side focus and the fact that I was able to get them for just over $100 cheaper than the Leupold VXIII (I bought 5 of them so multiply that by 5).

They track perfectly, the controls are excellent, and I really like the reticle. Plus it was cheaper than the Leupold. The glass, is as good as the Leupold. I actually preferred the glass slightly because I felt that the colour while not as "warm" was more accurate. But that's a personal preference. I've been impressed with it. At the same price point as the Leupold VXIII I would have gone with the Conquest scopes. At slightly over $100 less it was an easy choice. I would have been happy with either, but I'm happier with the Conquest. The only Leupold scopes I've gone with are the VXIII EFR models for my high end rimfires.

As for the VXII. I'd take my Burris FFII over it anyday. The VXII doesn't even come close to the Conquest line.

Care to elaborate on the "offical tests"?

I know the conquest line is now waterproof, and apparantly the Leupolds are having problems with off axis crosshairs (according to Expoy's article).

I know that I have looked through a couple Leupolds and the clairty was just not there when in comparison to the Conquests.

You know what the best part about owing a good product is? Never ever having to learn about the warranty. :D
