I picked up a like new CZ 858 and it's definitely not me, but it seems to shoot all over the place, I'm not used to these types of iron sights, so how would I go about zeroing it. I can't hit $hit with it. I'm only going out to 100 yards/meters

It first depends on the range you plan on shooting at. You could do a traditional 100m zero with the 100m setting on the leaf. Then confirm it at the other settings. then you can use the leaf for what it was designed for.

But since your only going out to 100. You could do a "Battle zero" with the leaf set at the first "U" setting and zero at 25 meters and it should be good on a torso sized target out to 200 i believe. shooting a little high at anything in between.

You also will need a sight adjustment tool to move the front sight post for windage and elevation.

maybe there's a more accurate zero with less deviation if your going only from 0-100m that you could find though.

OP, what kind of ammo are you using for zeroing? Surplus ammo is, shall we say, not known for consistent accuracy :d

I don't know how much you know about zeroing sights, but the CZ type rifle (along with the SKS and AK pattern) adjusts the front sight to confirm elevation on the back sight and also adjusts for windage. When sighting in with the front sight, you must remember that the sight must be moved in the opposite direction you want the bullet impact to move (i.e. - move the sight left to move the impact right, and move the sight down to raise the impact-definitely NOT intuitive lol).

Use good ammo and good luck!

This is the method I would like to do, (I mainly shoot 100, but can probably will go to 200 - 300) Also I do have a front sight adjustment tool, I just don't know what to do.

No surplus for me, either Barnaul or Dominion Arms (if we ever get any again)

I sight my sks and vz on the 1 setting. Works well but shoot 25 or 50 before you slap up a 100 target. Use the closer distances for windage only and at 100, use a big target and start dialing in the front sight.
