I got an old RCBS Model 5.10 Scale from an old friend who used it for years and who is now deceased. I recently wanted to start reloading again and set the scale up. I was not able to zero it, unless I took some of the lead shot from the pan support assembly. The scale will zero, but I think I will need to put some cotton wool in the pan support assembly, since the remaining lead shot now moves, which again effects the scale for zero. I have checked the scale with known weights and it seems to weight correctly. I would appreciate any advice on whether it is safe to use this scale, since I am mainly loading 45LC. I was thinking of getting an electronic scale to double check the powder weight.
