Zeroing question for 100yds

I mostly use pop can aluminium for base shims. I have never needed much depending on the distance the scope rings are mounted apart from one another.

Consider the following:

this scope has very little internal travel and if the base/rings are "pointing" a bit down, you will have a high SR zero.

DO NOT shim in the rings, you will crush the scope tube and really not change anything... except maybe, damaging the scope

DO NOT shim under a single base unless you shim on a taper over both bases. If you raise one base and the rings are no longer in alignment, you will crush the scope tube, bend the tube or stress out the internals.

If you need to shim the scope, Burris Sig ZEE rings are the best and only solution that will work with a 2pc base.

But given that you are within a couple of inches of ideal... does it really matter?

Just a thought........ Is your windage adjusted far enough to one side that its not allowing the full range of elevation? Maybe your bases are off center?

Well, took everything apart again to make sure everything was measuring ok. The bases are level, the rings are equal, everything was torqued equally. This scope has 29 MOA of total adjustment. I figure if I go with a one piece base, it wouldn't change anything since my two piece is dead on. I might try the rings that Jerry talked about. The burris ones, or maybe just leave it. Tks a lot guys for your ideas.

With my 700, I had to go to a one piece base. The two piece set wouldn't let me zero the scope. It seemed the holes weren't quite drilled in a straight line from factory. Good luck.
