Zielgeraet 1229 with a stg44

I was just poking around on the net after playing Call of duty 4 on the 360 and found a weapons sight that the Germans were using code name Vampir , offical name was Zielgeraet 1229 . Apparently they were using night vision way back then . Has anyone been fortuate enough to see one in real life or lay hands on one ?

I read that there were only around 330 made .

yup looks strangly the same as the american unit.......


but yes the germans played with night vision scope and used them in/on tanks with some success

For any of you fiction fans, there is a decent book by Stephen Hunter called 'The Master Sniper' where this weapon is used by a German assassin.
