I currently have a Conquest with a rapid Z-1000.

It will not work with the load I currently have developed for the rifle upon which it sits.

I am going to send it for a change of reticle.

I am down to two choices, Rapid Z varmint or mil-dot.

The Rapid Z varmint will calibrate for the load I have but is limited to a 600 yard holdover point.

What I am looking for is persons with experience with the Rapid Z varmint and how it worked and if the 600 yard holdover mark was sufficient for varminting needs.

I have other Conquests with the mil-dot and have no issues with them.

Should I go with the Varmint with holdover or the mil-dot and use turret adjustments?

Are you using a 20 moa base as recommended by Zeiss to get full usage of the Z-1000 reticle? I have a 6.5-20 Z-1000 with a 20 moa Farrell base on a custom Cooper in 6.5x55 and all seems to work well.

Like Steyrman said, the use of a 20 MOA base/rings is primordial with the Rapid-Z 1000. Also, make sure your scope is set on the "New operating power" rather than maximum magnification. You can find the new operating power by using the "optimize power" feature on the Zeiss online ballistic calculator. If the scope is set at any other magnification, the reticle will be slightly off. Good luck

Everything is set up properly.

The reticle and load data do not calibrate due to the velocity and BC of the bullet that I am using.

I played with the calculator for hours with to see if I could make changes to the load, no dice.Have to go with another reticle , I wanted to make this one work , just not going to happen.
