Question Waiting for PAL&RPAL - 6 Months to date

Hey guys, I made sure to check over all the FAQs before asking the community for help.

I did everything in the FAQs, my reference was called (they didn't call both) and they never interviewed me despite I was expecting to be interviewed then after following up at the three month mark they told me that everything has passed now it's in the regional rcmp's hands for background checks and another three months later (six months now) I call the CFO Alberta directly and they hardly tell me anything they just say "oh it's still now being overlooked by a firearms officer for approval" and that's all they tell me they don't even answer why I am delayed and even one time they asked me if I had an encounter with the police before and I answered truthfully obviously which I did twice when I was under 18 and well over 5 years ago but I have nothing to hide so I filled out everything on the paperwork 100% accurately and answered what little questions they had if they had any at all..so last call I sent them they told me the same thing again and they would contact me if they require anything but to basically just wait.

I have no problem with waiting but six months?! Seriously and I'm in AB on the West which in my research most people said the west is quicker...not only that but my friend that submitted his application TWO MONTHS AFTER ME just had his approved today..it took him two months for approval but regardless he got his soo much quicker...

What should I do? I'm even debating contacting my local PM here in Alberta for some advice or help because I don't know what to do.

*My application is a new one not a renewal.*

All CFOs work at their own pace. Other than you repeatedly hassling them ( which is a good idea, squeaky wheel and all), there is nothing we can say or do that will speed up the process.

If the OP would post in which province he resides he might get more responses an info regarding that jurisdictions CFO will be more accurate.
:D STUPID is supposed to be fatal, but we spend countless resources to protect IDIOTS from being the cause of their own demise. Occasionally a ray of sunshine comes through an STUPID manages to do the job it was intended to do.

Maybe if you read his post you would see Alberta .
Kind of stands out if you even glance at it
Pre-orders are horrible for everyone involved. They never go smooth. We will not be doing a pre-order to bankroll this project.

Did they basically keep you in limbo when contacting them? By limbo I mean with me they won't even explain the delay they just tell me to check up in a few weeks then when I do same response or it's with a firearms officer..like no crap it's with an officer..what are they doing? Lol..but I also contacted my local MLA and MP.

Mine was also over 6 months to receive, nothing you can do about it unfortunately, but at least you will learn patience , I had the same experience as you, however in my case it was the stupidity of my youth that came back to haunt me, they may only ask about the last 5 years on your application, but if you have any sort of run in with the law, believe me they will look way farther back than that. Good luck and keep calling them, one day you might find a sympathetic ear on the other end, I finally talked to someone who did their job, called me back an hour later and told me she had issued my license.
