I was once told by a long term collector of pump 22`s that there was a real good Winchester pump book that is a must have. Gives all info about change-ups and years, etc. Trying to find out who the Author was. By chance, anyone know?

The original publication was a two volume hardcover set, now out of print. Volume 1 was on the model 1890 and 1906, and volume two was on the model 61, 62. There was a later printing of both volumes combined in soft cover. The hard cover editions are listed on amazon and other sites for hundreds per volume. I have seen the soft cover sell on ebay recently for around 200 bucks.
